We've launched Google Play Store API, Yahoo Images API and fixed an issue that was causing intermittent errors in two of our YouTube endpoints. Here's what changed and how it can help your data pipelines.
Google Play Store API Is Now Live
If you've ever tried to collect app data from the Google Play Store yourself, you know how painful it gets. Page layouts change, requests get blocked, and keeping a homegrown scraper alive becomes a part-time job.
Our new Google Play Store API handles that for you. It's available now in both the Dashboard and the documentation, so you can test it in a few clicks and then move to production when you're ready.
What You Can Use It For
• App market research: Track competitors' listings, categories, and positioning without manual checks.
• Review and sentiment monitoring: Collect user feedback at scale to see what people love or complain about.
• ASO (App Store Optimization): Monitor how titles, descriptions, and rankings change over time.
• Lead generation and analytics: Build datasets of apps and developers for sales, investment research, or industry reports.
• Product intelligence: Watch how rival apps evolve after each update.
Getting Started
1. Log in to your Scrapingdog Dashboard.
2. Open the Google Play Store API and try a request directly in the interface.
3. Check the documentation for the full list of parameters, response fields, and usage guidance.
4. Copy the generated request into your code and start pulling structured data.
Because the Dashboard and docs are both live, you can go from curiosity to a working integration in one sitting.
Yahoo Images API Now Available on Playground and Dashboard
Image data powers more projects than most people realize: visual search tools, product research, content curation, brand monitoring, and training datasets for machine learning.
The new Yahoo Images API is live on both the Playground and the Dashboard. You can run queries, inspect the response, and decide whether it fits your workflow before writing any code.
Why Yahoo Images?
Relying on a single search engine for image results can leave gaps. Different engines index and rank content differently, so adding Yahoo Images gives you:
• Broader coverage: A second source to cross-reference against your existing image results.
• Diverse results: Different ranking means you may surface images other engines bury.
• Easy testing: The Playground lets you experiment with queries and see responses instantly.
Practical Use Cases
• Brand monitoring: See how your brand or products appear visually across the web.
• E-commerce research: Gather product imagery and spot visual trends in your category.
• Content and editorial teams: Find reference imagery faster.
• AI and ML teams: Build image datasets from search queries, subject to the usage rights that apply to your project.
YouTube Comments and Channel APIs: Intermittent Errors Fixed
We also resolved an issue that was causing intermittent errors in the YouTube Comments API and the YouTube Channel API. We identified the underlying cause and fixed it, which means more reliable and consistent responses from both endpoints.
Intermittent errors are especially frustrating because they don't break everything. They break sometimes, which makes them hard to debug and forces you to add retry logic and error handling you shouldn't need. If you noticed unexplained failures in your YouTube workflows recently, it's worth running your jobs again.
Who Benefits Most
• Social listening tools that analyze comment sections for sentiment and engagement.
• Influencer marketing platforms that pull channel statistics to vet creators.
• Analytics dashboards that refresh channel and comment data on a schedule.
• Researchers studying audience behavior and content trends.
If you had workarounds in place, such as extra retries or fallback logic, you may be able to simplify them now. We'd still recommend keeping basic error handling in any production system.
Here is a video tutorial about our weekly updates.
Why This Matters
Web data is only valuable when it's dependable. Each update today pushes in that direction:
• New data sources (Google Play Store, Yahoo Images) widen what you can collect from one platform.
• Easy testing in the Dashboard and Playground means less time evaluating and more time building.
• Reliability fixes protect the pipelines you've already built.
That's the goal behind Scrapingdog: you shouldn't have to worry about proxies, blocks, or broken parsers. You send a request and get clean, structured data back.
Try It Today
• Explore the Google Play Store API in the Dashboard and read the docs for the complete guide.
• Test the Yahoo Images API in the Playground or the Dashboard.
• Re-run your YouTube Comments and Channel jobs and see the improved stability.
